Does Excessive Sweating Rule Your Life?

It’s totally natural to sweat – we all do it. However, if you’re like some of the millions of people all over the world who have a problem with excessive sweating, it can rule your life.

Places you go, what you do, what you eat and how you dress – if you are constantly worrying about if or how much you might sweat it can completely take the fun out of a night out, and make your work day a total nightmare.

You’re not alone if this sounds like you. If you’ve tried a variety of different remedies or methods for stopping or at least covering up your problem with little success, you’re probably crying out for a natural and permanent cure.

So why do some people sweat more than others?

Information on why you sweat more than other people is probably not as useful as information on how to stop, but understanding why you sweat might help when discussing possible cures.

The scientific name for excessive sweating is Hyperhidrosis. It’s totally natural to sweat and we all do it, it’s how the body stops you over-heating – as the sweat evaporates it cools the skin. If you’ve been exercising or it’s a hot day you sweat to try and cool yourself down. You might also sweat when you’re under pressure, nervous or anxious, as sweating is linked to the nervous system.

Hyperhydrosis however, is unusually increased perspiration and whilst it is usual throughout your teenage years, it can affect anyone at any point in their life.

The cause of Hyperhidrosis has been linked to an overactive nervous system. You might find that you sweat even though you don’t feel hot but more because you are nervous. You might be nervous because you sweat, and then sweat more because you are nervous!

Understanding how you are affected by excessive sweating can help you deal with the problem, or even better find a cure that works for you.

Can you cure excessive sweating? Any of the following might help lessen the problem or at least make it easier to live with?

-Wear colours that hide the stain better like black or white, and wear loose-fitting natural fabrics

-Make sure you have a shower at least once a day

-Avoid spicy foods, caffeine in tea, coffee, soft drinks and, sorry, chocolate

-Apply your anti-perspirant a number of times during the day rather than just once

-Try using a high strength anti-perspirant with a higher Aluminium Chloride percentage

Surgery and “arm-pit” shields might also be an alternative if you’re brave. But rather than looking at drastic cures or methods of covering up the problem, wouldn’t you rather be looking for a safe and natural cure that works?

Cure it! Don’t live with it.
